A Word from the Candidate¹
"Hello all, just announcing that I'm throwing my hat in the ring for school board ward 3 seat A, this is my 2nd time running and I'm looking forward to getting it done this time around!! I am married, and have 3 kids...a son who graduated in 2022 and twin daughters , that are seniors at Spaulding. I'm running because I believe the school board has lost its primary focus...which is the students in our schools...I believe we need to move back to basics and move away from trying to incorporate others political agendas...stop trying to fix what wasn't broken... the schools job is to teach our children not raise them. Furthermore, I believe the office of the superintendent should be transparent and held accountable for all decisions made...after all...it is ALL ABOUT OUR KIDS!!! "

What do you see as the top three issues facing the district, and how can the board address them?
The first issue that I see is our test scores when put up against other districts, which I believe is in direct correlation to our competency based grading system. I think for us to see a change in this we need to adjust the parameters of the grading system and the curriculum that is being used. As a school board, we have the ability to do that.
The second issue is the COVID-19 policies. The mask and vaccines need to be left up to families, as their personal choice.
The third is the budget. There needs to be more transparency to the public, as they are the taxpayers, to see where the funds are designated.
How, if at all, would you work to strengthen the district’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts?
I think the inclusion efforts may actually be adding more separation and division rather than acceptance.
How, if at all, would you work to strengthen the district’s mental health and wellness efforts for students?
Mental health and wellness are certainly part of the whole child. If needed, there may be trained counselors on campus for emergency needs. We have a very diverse student body, in that not everyone comes from the same home background and may be unable to request or receive what is necessary to meet these type of needs and that is where the school could help out. Otherwise, this is something that again should be handled by the family unit.
