Meet the Candidate Video
"𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼, 𝗺𝘆 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻no𝗿. I'm running for School Board in Ward 4 Seat B.
A little bit about myself. I have been a resident in Rochester for about 40 years. 36 of them years I've been married, excuse me, 34 of them years I've been married, and together we raised our three boys who went to Spalding and Rochester school system.
I am a member of the zoning board of adjustment, a member of the historic district commission, a member of the Rochester Lions Club, and with the Lions Club, I also volunteer for Future InSight, which I volunteer my driving time to help their clients who are visually impaired to go to doctor's appointments, run errands, or even peer support.
Now, the reason why I'm running for the school board is I believe that every student should have a good education. I also want to help with our test scores, which we only have an 89% graduation rate, which of 54 of them are proficient in reading and only 24% is proficient in math. And for a city our size, which is the sixth largest in the state of New Hampshire, I think those numbers are unacceptable.
Now, how do we do that? I don't know, but I'm willing to work for it. That's a goal of mine. Okay. And with them numbers, that tells me that the students are being pushed out before they retain the information that they need. Okay.
I I'm all for schoolboard transparency. I'm also—I also think that the parents shouldn't have to fight to get the help that their child needs. I think schoolboard should help them, listen to them, and help them the best of their ability.
We also need to better prepare our students, our seniors actually, for when they graduate to go into the world, the workforce.
I thank you, and I hope to get your vote on November 4th. Thank you."
